Reviews for Baby Animals Black and White

Dramatic black-and-white illustrations will capture even the youngest child's interest in this bold new board book. Tildes (Animals, 1996, etc.) capitalizes on the current theory that the contrast of black and white is the most appealing to infants. Each page features an extreme close-up of a baby animal face: rabbit, puppy, zebra, seal, panda, and more. The final page, done in colorful pastels, reveals a young baby laughing up at a mobile composed of all the animals found in the previous pages. The detailed, precise illustrations provide a sound introduction to the animal kingdom, and that last ingenious scene conveys a sense of story impossible in other, similar concept books. A versatile book that is surely due for repeated viewings, and one to be shared by babies and their preschool-age siblings. (Kirkus Reviews)
