MAX BEERBOHM (1872-1956), dubbed ""the incomparable Maxby George Bernard Shaw, was an essayist, caricaturist, critic, and short-story writer who endures as one of Edwardian England's leading satirists. Zuleika Dobson is his only novel.
The author's only novel, in which the eponymous heroine arrives in 1890s Oxford, where she drives all the young men to drown themselves in the Isis. This often bizarre fantasy is redeemed by Beerbohm's wit and occasional apertus. (Kirkus UK)
