My Story by Julia Gillard

IN STORE NOW. SHIPPING NOW.
Julia Gillard's memoir has arrived. If you want to know what being the Prime Minister feels like then this book will answer your questions. More specifically, what it feels like to be Australia's first female Prime Minister sworn in by Australia's first female Governor-General.

In style, the writing is very open and conversational and is arranged in two sections - How I did it, which centres around the resilience needed to manage and cope with Labor instability, a minority government and gender perceptions surrounding leadership. Filled with anecdotes and insights into the activities behind the scenes, this section will be devoured by pundits, politicos and playmakers.

The second and largest part of the book sets out her purpose, Why I did it. Here Gillard gets into what motivated her and kept her going, the formative events and issues, the type of country and society she envisioned - where she paints the picture of who she is and what drives her. The last chapter in this section - The Party Problem - examines the nature of the party structure.

World Order: Reflections on the Character of Nations and the Course of History by Henry A. Kissinger

HENRY KISSINGER ~ WORLD ORDER World Order is a masterpiece of narrative, analysis and portraits of great historical actors that only Henry Kissinger could have written. This is the summation of Henry Kissinger's thinking about history, strategy and statecraft. As if taking a perspective from far above the globe, it examines the great tectonic plates of history and the motivations of nations, explaining the attitudes that states and empires have taken to the rest of the world from the formation of Europe to our own times. Kissinger identifies four great 'world orders' in history - the European, Islamic, Chinese and American. tell me more
