In 2005, aerial photographer and author Robert Haas introduced his first National Geographic title, Through the Eyes of the Gods: An Aerial Vision of Africa . When Haas undertook his third high-flying project, he set out to conduct extensive aerial photography in the lands of the Vikings - concentrating on regions that transect the Arctic Circle, specifically Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. While photographing these lands over a three-year period, Haas endeavoured to capture imagery reflecting three key visual elements of the region: landscapes, wildlife, and human footprint. Robert B. Haas is the author and photographer of six photographic books. Since 2002, Haas has focused his artistic endeavors primarily on aerial photography, in an effort to capture the grandeur and mystique of Earth's continents from this unique perspective. His two previous photography books are among the most successful and widely distributed single-photographer books ever published by National Geographic.
