Film producer, critic, and historian Alain Silver is the author of numerous books on cinema, including The Noir Style, LA Noir, the Film Noir Reader series. He has been a lecturer and panelist at numerous film festivals and conferences across the U.S. and Canada. James Ursini has co-written eleven books with Alain Silver, including their Film Noir Reader series. Ursini has also written for various film magazines and supplied the commentary for numerous classic film noir DVDs. He has a doctorate in motion picture studies and lectures on filmmaking at UCLA and other institutes in the Los Angeles area.
