This book presents a much-needed dose of literature on corporate governance; specifically, on state (public) sector in Tanzania. How much can one ask for? The author makes significant inroads in tracing the evolution of corporate governance in Tanzania. His political economy approach is also quite appropriate. This one goes into the top rung of my shelf; when I wish to make a quick reference or whenever I need to look up governance issues on Tanzania. -- Said B. Kambi, founding CEO of the Institute of Directors in Tanzania (IoDT) and Founder and immediate past Chair of Africa Corporate Governance Network (ACGN)
