In the United States, more than five million new businesses started in 2022. It marked a record-breaking number of new businesses post-pandemic. Not only is the surge new, but every day traditional media and ""new"" media are changing. Reviews for Become a Media Maven: An Entrepreneur's Guide to Growing Your Business Without Ads (Even If You Don't Have an Audience) by a TV Reporter and Anchor

"I found myself being pulled through this book so fast that I kept forgetting to take notes... Why? Because Christina really does a nice job of breaking down the real challenges of getting media and giving you actionable items in every chapter. The truth is that a lot of this stuff will seem a lot more manageable after you read this book. Instead of focusing on all of a sudden being on every major network, talking about your area of expertise or your product, Christina's path is more manageable by focusing on taking action, working your way through a series of steps, and always keeping your eye on the biggest prize which is ""what does success look like for you?"" Christina Nicholson has been there and done that. With her years of experience in the media, she has the inside story and shares it with her readers. The book is easy to read and I love how every chapter ends with a ""Take Action"" idea for taking practical steps to implement the information you have just read. Christina gives you insights into how reporters think and what they are looking for. On the other side, she tells you what annoys them and what doesn't work anymore. As a podcast host myself, I understand how many pitches are generic and don't even fit with what I am doing. Her suggestions for customizing pitches and building relationships are spot on. Although I already have multiple TV, radio, newspaper and podcast appearances, I found practical ways to hone my media interactions to increase the likelihood of further appearances. On top of that, as a result of reading this book I feel like I will be more efficient in my future media endeavors. One thing that stood out was how the author used real-life examples throughout the book. These examples helped me understand the concepts and strategies in a practical way. It was great to see Christina break down each strategy and provide step-by-step guidance on implementing them. What I liked the most was that the author offers practical advice that you can start using right away, regardless of the type of business you have. All in all, ""Become a Media Maven"" is a must-read if you're an entrepreneur and want to grow your business without spending a fortune on ads! Christina truly knows their stuff, so this book is a valuable resource if you want to take your business to the next level. I was intrigued when a friend recommended this book to me-- I had no time to read it today but I wanted to take a peek. I literally could not put it down! This was exactly what I needed to hear and as a result I now have my next steps without any confusion or doubt. I loved the way the author spoke in a relatable way but also made the path of moving forward with PR easy and accessible to anyone. News flash-- you do not need to be a star to have press for your business or project. I highly recommend this book!"
