Join Pettson and Findus and be inspired by all the exciting activities and experiments they get up to through the year. Beautifully brought to life by Sven's ingenious illustrations this book suggests crafts and activities using what nature has to offer: make bird food and grow seeds, create pretty necklaces and toys, build a mini composter, measure the wind and rain and make a beautiful ice lantern. Learn how you can help animals and plants by collecting, fixing, crafting, building, exploring and baking. By creatively using things from around the house and garden both young and old can discover how much of what surrounds us can be reused and recycled. Fun, climate-friendly and affordable!

Sven Nordqvist (b, 1946) is a well-loved Swedish children’s author and illustrator. The Findus and Pettson stories draw on his playful adventures with his two young sons, and his unique illustrations are inspired by a delight in everyday life. Sven Nordqvist sets out intentionally to create a safe world in his Pettson and Findus series; a world in which problems can find resolution. Such a world, he believes, provides the security that children need in today’s world: “The world should be comprehensible. Essentially that’s how I myself would like it to be.”

Reviews for A Year with Findus: Seasonal crafts and nature activities

"""Has the time-out-of-time feel of a folk tale and a sweet, rustic appeal...Nordqvist's detailed, expressive illustrations have enormous charm."" --New York Times Book Reviewon Findus Disappears! ""I love the Findus books. I came across them when I was in Sweden a couple of years ago, and I think they're enormously inventive, funny and charming. My grandchildren love them, too. ―Philip Pullman, author of ""His Dark Materials"" trilogy, including The Golden Compass ""Nordqvist's illustrations are packed with inviting detail, and Pettson and Findus's testy but tender relationship is as enjoyable as the broad, goofy humor that runs through the story."" --Publishers Weekly on The Birthday Cake ""The large, full color, mixed-media illustrations are elaborate, containing many amusing details that encourage careful and repeated readings. A quirky and heartwarming tale."" --School LIbrary Journal on When Findus Was Little and Disappeared ""A gardening hullaballoo that uses its cacophony of chaos to an infinitely amusing end."" --Kirkus Reviews on A Ruckus in the Garden ""Sure to win hearts and minds, even as its characters come near to losing the latter."" --Kirkus Reviews on The Camping Trip ""These two comic characters are sly as any fox--and endearing to boot."" --Kirkus Reviews on The Fox Chase ""A treasure that will lure a new generation of readers, rendering them life-long fans of Pettson and Findus."" --New York Journal of Books on The Camping Trip"
