George and his sister Lotta have found a new slug friend named Speedy. They can’t wait to introduce him to the family, but Speedy has other plans. He escapes! The whole family helps to bring their lost critter home. But is George and Lotta’s jar really his home, or does Speedy belong outside with his fellow slugs?

A funny tale of empathy and ecology that will remind readers that sometimes you have to set your friends free.

Nici Gregory started illustrating whilst still in primary school, drawing in the margins of her exercise books. After studying graphic design, she went on to work as an in-house illustrator for a marketing firm. When she realised her work in the margins (mostly animals in fancy clothes) continued to be her best work, she decided to leave the world of marketing for a career in creating animal characters for children. She has never looked back. Where's Speedy? is the first book she has both written and illustrated.

Reviews for Where's Speedy?

"""Conveying several salutary messages to budding nature-lovers, this cozy import from down under opens with simple instructions for preparing a suitable jar for holding a small wild creature to exhibit and then release"".Booklist ""Gregory’s simple tale of a lost short-term yard pet is a fun game of spot the gastropod. Once kids realize Speedy is on every page, they will demand to read it again to find the miniscule mollusk. Cartoon illustrations with scribbly lines are a good match for the text. (This book was reviewed digitally.) Animal lovers will have a field day with this fun story that also offers a seek-and-find element."" Kirkus reviews"
