Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه), also known as Uthman al-Ghani, lived between 577 and 656 CE. Before accepting Islam in 616, he was a successful and well-respected trader. After embracing Islam, he became known for his generosity, gentle character, and deep love for the Qur'an.

During Uthman's leadership, the Muslim community experienced a time of stability, growth, and prosperity. One of his greatest achievements was overseeing the compilation of the Qur'an into a single, standardised volume, helping to preserve it for generations to come. He also supported the building of many mosques and centres of learning and oversaw the expansion of the Muslim state.

Uthman's generosity was unmatched. When the Muslim army was preparing for the expedition to Tabuk to face the Roman forces, the Prophet ﷺ asked, ""Who will equip this army, and Allah will forgive him?"" Uthman (R) stepped forward without hesitation. He provided camels and horses sufficient to equip a large portion of the army and donated a sack filled with gold coins. The Prophet ﷺ later said words to the effect that nothing Uthman did after that day could harm him.

Uthman (R) also held a unique honour among the Companions. He was the only man to marry two daughters of the Prophet ﷺ, one after the other. Because of this, he was given the title Dhun-Noorain - The Possessor of Two Lights.

This book introduces young readers to the life of a man whose modesty, generosity, and devotion left a lasting mark on Islamic history.
