ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- I adore this series of books, with their cheerful illustrations and retelling of great pieces of music for young readers - and listeners, as each page contains a pressure point that elicits a phrase of music, beautifully reproduced. (No tinny notes here!) Having introduced various symphonies and ballets, this is the first in the series to present an opera. Of course the story is ridiculous - most fairy tales are! - but the music and the singing are delightful. With a small amount of information on the composer and a glossary to explain the musical terms, this is a welcome addition to the collection. Lindy

Jessica Courtney-Tickle is an illustrator who graduated from Kingston University in July 2014. Her absolute favourite thing to draw or paint is nature, finding a focus on foliage of any kind as well as childrens stories about adventure and exploration. She also has a penchant for drawing theatre from music makers to dancers and even singing animals. Jessica is most influenced by vintage picture books, travel posters and folk art as well as numerous painters and printmakers.Katy Flint is an author, editor and musician, based in London. She studied violin at the University of Southampton, before moving into childrens books. She is the author of the much-loved Story Orchestra series and has worked on many other non-fiction titles - from human bodies to dinosaurs.
