J A Moore grew up on a sheep farm in Victoria, Australia. At seventeen, following his father's death, he assumed responsibility for managing the farm. Years of working the land sharpened his powers of observation, which later served him well when he became a long-range weather forecaster. Drawing on both practical experience and careful study, he analysed sunspots, lunar movements, wind patterns, and ocean currents to anticipate weather shifts.Moore often says that his true university was life itself. With a meticulous mind and a keen eye for detail, he learned through observation, questioning, and reflection. He and his wife have shared sixty years of marriage, raised four children, and celebrated the gift of seven grandchildren. For much of his life, Moore wrestled with the question of origins. The more he considered the theory of evolution, the less convincing it seemed to him when weighed against scientific observation and common sense. His Christian faith offered what he believed to be a more satisfying answer to life's ultimate questions: How did it all begin? Why are we here?Out of a desire to share these reflections with his grandchildren, Moore wrote The Personal Love Letter Everyone Needs to Read.
