""Thoughtful, mature, assured, this deeply biblical account of human virtue is a sheer gift. Timmerman writes with authority and verve, summoning us to the power and beauty of a virtuous life."" --Cornelius Plantinga, author of Morning and Evening Prayers ""Deeply theological and lyrically written, John Timmerman's reflections shed much-needed light on the patient practice of living out the biblical virtues in all the ordinariness of day to day living, whether on the porch in winter, at the veteran's home, or on the ball field. Rarely has an invitation to sanctification been so engaging!"" --Karin Maag, Director, H. Henry Meeter Center, Hekman Library, Calvin Theological Seminary ""John Timmerman has written a book that is by turns lyric narrative description and incisive insight into the virtues that are every believer's aspiration by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Grace, mercy, meekness, and various spiritual fruit receive fresh treatment while also being rooted deep in Christian tradition and the profound insights of other thinkers and writers along the ages. This is a wonderful treatment of some of the most vital aspects of discipleship."" --Scott Hoezee, Director, The Center for Excellence in Preaching, Calvin Theological Seminary ""Thoughtful, mature, assured, this deeply biblical account of human virtue is a sheer gift.
