He also won more than two-hundred major race finals and scored a goal for Manchester United Football Club. His achievements nowadays would probably have earnt him an MBE and a lucrative career as a TV sports pundit.

This book chronicles Ernest's life and sporting accomplishments and gives a brief insight into the origins of the modern Olympic Games and the popularity of track cycling in the UK.
