Thomas C. Pochapsky graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in analytical chemistry in 1977. He obtained his PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois, where he met his coauthor. He served post-doctorate positions in biochemistry at the University of Illinois and in macromolecular NMR at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. Prof. Pochapsky came to Brandeis University in 1989, where he is now a Professor of Chemistry and Protein Structure. Susan S. Pochapsky graduated with a BA in chemistry from Wayne State University in 1981. She earned her PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois, and did post-doctorate work in NMR of natural products at Scripps Oceanographic Institute. She previously worked as an applications scientist at Bruker Instruments (1990-1996) and a senior research scientist at Harvard-MIT Magnetic Resonance facility (1996-2000), before becoming a senior research associate at Brandeis University.
