The ancient myths bears their fangs in this illustrated book by noted artist Michael Bukowski. As a child, the artist read the works of H.P. Lovecraft and discovered how that weird fiction author name-dropped a veritable who's who of gods and creatures from ancient folklore. Before long, Bukowski began sketching how he imagined and Circe as frightening entities. This contemporary bestiary features mythology and monsters from around the globe. Each entry includes notations from poems, stories, and scholarly work on folklore and myth.

"Michael Bukowski has been a freelance illustrator for twenty years, predominantly working for punk and metal bands on five continents. Most notably, he was the ""head of propaganda"" for the Philly-based, anarcho-hardcore band R.A.M.B.O., helping them craft a ridiculous aesthetic for their print-based materials, as well as providing props for live shows around the world. Since the turn of the century, Michael has amassed a client list of over 200 bands, labels, production companies, and clothing lines. More recently he's worked with weird fi ction authors and publishers on covers, interior illustrations, in addition to the essay series Stories From the Borderland with Scott Nicolay. His Illustro Obscurum project, inwhich he is illustrates creatures and entities from prominent horror and weird fiction writers, led to him founding the small press zine""publishing house"" Seventh Church Ministries, which showcases other illustrators' work alongside famous (or not-so-famous) authors. While based in Philadelphia, Michael is also an avid taphophile and traveller; he regularly visits remote cemeteries, ancient ruins, ossuaries, and tombstone festivals with his partner and fellow illustrator, Jeanne D'Angelo. He's also the father to three annoying cats. Oakland-based artist Skinner creates psychedelic nightmare paintings, otherworldly animation, toys, murals and more. Steve Berman is a Lambda Literary Award-winning editor and author of numerous queer and weird short stories."
