David Mason has been a part owner of an opal mine, worked on a cattle station and on a prawn trawler. He holds a BA (Hons), an LLB, a Grad Dip and an LLM (with Merit) from the Australian National University, a MDefStud from the University of New South Wales (ADFA), and a Grad Dip in Military Law from the University of Melbourne. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Australian Capital Territory, and as a Barrister of the High Court of Australia. He is also a Major in the Australian Army Reserve Legal Corps and has been decorated by the Australian, French and United States governments. David was named Australia's Adventurer of the Year and awarded the Gold Medal of the Australian Geographic Society following his trek across Australia. He is the author of WALK ACROSS AUSTRALIA and MARCHING WITH THE DEVIL.
