High Entropy Materials: Fundamentals and Potential Applications covers the fundamental science of high entropy materials (HEMs) and advances in the development of various structural and functional HEMs: topics covered include strength and ductility combination; hydrogen embrittlement resistance; shape memory properties; fatigue properties as well as detailed reviews of high-entropy superalloys; refractory high entropy alloys; ferroelectric high entropy oxides; nanocrystal library for catalytic applications; water splitting for hydrogen production; thermoelectric properties; lithium and sodium batteries; high-entropy polymers; high-entropy coatings for elevated temperatures and wear resistance; and AI-based approaches to explore the high entropy materials composition space. The book is written by international experts in the field including the director and principal investigators of the High Entropy Materials Center in Taiwan: the first research center dedicated to the development of HEMs

He obtained his undergraduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, India, and a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the University of Cambridge, UK. He has published over 1000 peer reviewed articles in journals An-Chou Yeh is a Professor at the Materials Science and Engineering Department, National Tsing Hua University and also the Director of the High Entropy Materials Center in Taiwan. An-Chou Yeh received a First Class Degree Honours in Aerospace Materials Engineering from Imperial College London, and a PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge. After graduation, he joined the National Institute for Materials Science, Japan, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He has published over 113 peer-reviewed articles and owned 19 patents Dr. Tsai-Fu Chung is an Assistant Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University and PhD in Material Science and Engineering from the National Taiwan University. Dr. Chung’s research interests include high-strength aluminum alloys, high-entropy alloys, steel alloys, quantum dots, and 2D materials for structural and functional applications Dr. J.W. Yeh is a Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. He is the first to propose the concept of HEAs and HE-related materials. He has dug into this field for more than 18 years. His other important contributions are in the field of high-strength Al and Mg alloys, metal-matrix composites, rapid solidification, and reciprocating extrusion.
