In August 1973, by the grace of God, I was blessed with a B2 visa to America. I still remember arriving at JFK Airport on a Saturday evening, filled with hope and excitement for the journey ahead. Just two days later, with the help of kind people around me, I registered with a staffing agency called Time and Life at 120 Broadway in Lower Manhattan. By the end of that very same day, I had secured a position with Chase Manhattan Bank on Water Street.
I spent seven years there as a Remittance Bank Money Transfer Investigator before moving next door to Chemical Bank at 55 Water Street. Alongside my career, I was privileged to serve as a Supervisor with a charitable organization known as Covenant House,
where I worked passionately until the tragic events of 9/11 reshaped so many lives in New York.
When Chemical Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank merged and later moved to MetroTech in Brooklyn under the new name J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., I continued my career there until 2008. When the financial crisis slowed the markets, I decided it was time to retire.
Looking back, I can say with certainty that God's grace has guided me through every step of my journey. Everything worked out well because I made the choice long ago to walk with Him. From that day forward, I chose God to be my partner for the rest of my life-and it has been the greatest decision I have ever made.
