From the first championship, won by Nino Farina with his Alfa and his famous cigar between his lips, to Hamilton's heroic exploits, taking in en route all the legends of Formula 1: Ascari, Fangio, Lauda, Senna, Prost and Schumacher are just some of the protagonists in this book. A spectacular account of the winners, their extraordinary cars and their duels, but also a story of big defeats and great heroes who, while they didn't win the championship, still became legends: Gilles Villeneuve above all.

Reviews for F1 Heroes: Champions and Legends in the Photos of Motorsport Images

Offers capsule histories of each of F1's seven decades -- a helpful cheat sheet for those newly minted fans who can't yet tell the difference between Phil Hill, Graham Hill and Damon Hill, former champions all.--John Swansburg New York Times: Book Review The emotional and technical detail is truly staggering to behold if you're a long-time F1 fan, a newer or more casual fan, or have maybe even never watched a race before.--Danny Herbert HotCars.com The 192-page volume contains more than 200 photos that span 70 years of racing, engineering, danger, and destiny. It shows the pageantry and pathos of the world's top tier of car racing over the ages, presenting the charismatic men with creative facial hair who piloted cars through the glory days of F1, when machismo and 1970s-era excess were taken as matters of course.--Hannah Elliott Bloomberg: News
