"During the past twenty years, Anne Michelle Lawrence, Ph.D., has taught writing to children, adolescents, and adults, including multilingual writers. She has also worked as a writing teacher educator for prospective and practicing elementary, secondary, and college writing teachers. Dr. Lawrence is the incoming Co-Director of the Tampa Bay Area Writing Project, a local site of the National Writing Project, a nonprofit professional-development organization for teachers of writing. Dr. Lawrence's research focuses on how writing supports curiosity, creativity, and collaboration for community action. One major strand of her research investigates how young people use writing both to inquire into environmental problems and to address those challenges with their community members. Luana has her MA in reading and has been in education and publishing for over 25 years. She's been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, PD presenter, author, and editor. Currently, she is busy editing and publishing books through her tiny publishing house, BeaLu Books (named after her puppies, Mr. Beans and Lucy). Luana lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband, son, and puppies. Her go-to response when faced with a challenge in teaching, parenting, or life is ""There's got to be a book about....""
