Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a medical condition when localized enlargement of the abdominal aorta takes place such that its diameter is greater than 3 cm. Generally, there are no symptoms of abdominal aortic aneurysm, except during rupture. Sometimes, leg, back or abdominal pain may occur. Its rupture leads to low blood pressure, pain in abdomen or back, loss of consciousness and commonly leads to death. AAA most commonly occurs in those with a family history, in men and those over 50 years old. Risk factors of this condition are high blood pressure, smoking and heart or blood vessel diseases. Preventive measures involve treating high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Most of the topics introduced in this book cover the causes, diagnosis and treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm. Its aim is to present researches that have transformed this discipline. The book is appropriate for students seeking detailed information in this area as well as for experts.
