A Pilgrim’s Guide to Northern Spain is now due to be split into three separate volumes. This major project is about begin to come to fruition, at long last! It was the first manuscript by Publisher Andrew Houseley although, in the end, A Pilgrim’s Guide to Fatima became his first published work. The first book covers all of the stages of the Camino Frances, as well as the Camino Finisterre (including the extension to Muxia). It is scheduled for January 2019 – more details to follow. Each stage will be accompanied by a double-page spread of mapping from CNIG/IGN, the Spanish national Survey, with town/village insets showing the start and end. There will be Plans of the main cities passed through, together with Cathedral Plans. The second volume, scheduled for 2020, is due to cover all the stages and main options of the Caminos del Norte, Primitivo and Ingles. The third volume will cover the shrines of Northern Spain, including Santiago itself, but otherwise mostly the traditions other than that of St James; this may include one or two walking routes, such as the Camino Santo Toribio and ways to arrive in Covadonga.
