Abbey's Bookshop at 131 York Street in the heart of Sydney (right next to the Queen Victoria Building) is an iconic Sydney independent bookstore known for its specialisations in history, science and crime fiction - but of course we cover the full range of categories. Our GALAXY Bookshop (science fiction and fantasy specialists) has been going for 50 years for fans of speculative fiction. Our Language Book Centre - also for 50 years - has been providing for students, schools and non-English readers and English learners. Since 1968 we've been curating a distinctive collection sourced from publishers large and small, and academic presses from around the world - where ideas grow.

OUR GIFT CARDS remain popular with customers who like to give something tangible. Gift Cards are credit card-sized and fit easily into your purse or wallet and come enclosed within an attractive presentation slip. They are redeemable online or in-store.
