Sam Carmody is a writer and award-winning musician from the mid-west town of Geraldton on the central coast of Western Australia. The Windy Season was shortlisted for the 2014 Vogel's literary Award, Australia's most prestigious award for an unpublished manuscript by a writer under the age of thirty-five. Carmody's short fiction and non- fiction has been published widely online and in print, including the Griffith Review and ABC's The Drum, and in The Review of Australian Fiction. He is also a previous recipient of the Mary Grant Bruce Award as part of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) National Literary Awards. He has won a WA Music Award for his song-writing.
