Beneath the streets of New York City live the Avicen, an ancient race of people with feathers for hair and magic running through their veins. Age-old enchantments keep them hidden from humans. All but one.

Echo is a runaway pickpocket who survives by selling stolen treasures on the black market, and the Avicen are the only family she's ever known. Echo is clever and daring, and at times she can be brash, but above all else she's fiercely loyal. So when a centuries-old war crests on the borders of her home, she decides it's time to act. Legend has it that there is a way to end the conflict once and for all: find the Firebird, a mythical entity believed to possess power the likes of which the world has never seen.

It will be no easy task, but if life as a thief has taught Echo anything, it's how to hunt down what she wants... and how to take it. But some jobs aren't as straightforward as they seem. And this one might just set the world on fire.

Reviews for Girl at Midnight (#1 Girl at Midnight)

The Girl at Midnight is a rich fantasy which incorporates both dragon and phoenix mythologies in order to set the parameters of a new world within the world we know. -- Kayla Gaskell * ReadPlus.com.au * an enjoyable read from a debut artist, and Grey is a writer to watch * Aurealis * The storyline is so insanely descriptive that you'll seriously feel like you're living Echo's life. * Dolly * I absolutely loved this beautifully written story set in an intriguing, vivid world that exists beside ours, and is filled with memorable characters. The mystery contained within these otherworldly pages blows your mind once it's revealed, but at the same time makes perfect sense of everything. -- Yolanda Stefsos * Yolanda Stefsos * The Girl At Midnight is a fun snarky read which turns up the heat, and stakes, as it goes down a darker road... Grey writes some absolutely atmospheric scenes that create visceral images-of light and dark-and you'll want to get on this series. * My Reading Dress * Review -- Jeann * Happy Indulgence * Review -- Janet Croft * Janet Croft Book Reviews * I LOVED this concept. Grey gets major points for an unbelievably unique reading experience that was incredibly well written. The characters were exciting and layered with both perspectives of Echo and Caius blending seamlessly to create a well-rounded story line. * Thoughts by J * The writing is beautiful, and colourful, and is exactly what was needed in a fast-paced world with fantasy elements. Filled with amazing descriptions, wonderful settings, complex and interesting characters, The Girl at Midnight will not disappoint. -- Kristy Withers * Book Nerd Reviews *
